I first met Andrew (Andy) Hoffman at a Simon Fraser University Lecture with the Beedie School of Business. He Spoke about his new book How Culture Shapes the Climate Change Debate. We met weeks later and continued this discussion. For me, the science seems clear so what is the reluctance, refusal, inaction and denial around climate change? Hoffman suggests that this is such an overwhelming topic that few of us can comprehend the magnitude of the problem. We looked at how we talk with each other and how we open or shut down conversations based on values and beliefs. I also wandered a bit as we get to know what keeps this professor/author up at night.
